Why I Built Uni-Fund
I spent years working in university budget offices and watched smart people lose entire weeks to spreadsheet reconciliation. Position funding changes tracked in email chains. Approval workflows that existed only in someone’s head.
The ERPs were fine at what they did — general ledger, payroll, purchasing. But nobody had built the layer between department chairs and the finance system. So people built it themselves, one spreadsheet at a time.
Uni-Fund is what I wished existed. It’s not trying to replace PeopleSoft or Banner — it’s the missing piece that makes them actually usable for budget planning.

Common Questions
How is this different from Workday Adaptive or Anaplan?
Those are general-purpose EPM tools that require significant configuration for higher ed. Uni-Fund is purpose-built for universities — position control, fund accounting, grant management, and academic org structures are native, not bolted on. And there are no per-user fees.
What if we already have Banner/PeopleSoft budgeting modules?
Most institutions do — and most still use spreadsheets for actual planning. The ERP modules handle budget control (preventing overspending). Uni-Fund handles budget planning (modeling, approvals, position changes). They’re complementary.
How long does implementation take?
A pilot can be running in 2-3 weeks. Full implementation depends on scope, but we’re not rebuilding your chart of accounts — we’re reading what you already have.
Who handles the technical setup?
We do. Your team’s main job is providing data exports and answering questions about your org structure. We handle deployment, configuration, and data loading.
What about security review and FERPA?
We have FERPA documentation, architecture diagrams, and security specs ready for your IT team. Happy to do a technical call with your security office before anything else.
